Systems Engineer – Indianapolis Office

We are seeking a Systems Engineer with DevOps experience to join a fast-growing Site Operations team passionate about technology. You will utilize your strong operations background and automation mentality to contribute to availability, quality, and speed of innovation.

ANGI Homeservices operates 10 brands in eight countries, and is headquartered in Golden, Colo. The Systems Engineer will sit in our Indianapolis office.
Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve issues on production systems and communicate needed changes to the team.
Make recommendations and implement changes to improve system performance.
Improve system monitoring, alerting, and documentation.
Assist with system upgrades and application code as needed.
Automate process and procedure.
Test, deploy, maintain, and monitor web applications and systems, including coordinating the installation through proper Change Management.
Develop, document, and revise system procedures, test procedures, and quality standards.
Assist members of other operations teams with issues or questions about processes.
Train and mentor other members of team to become proficient Systems Administrators.
Experience building/operating consumer websites.
Experience in Linux systems administration – Ubuntu preferred.
Experience with Windows server and IIS administration.
Experience with implementation and administration in a public cloud – AWS certification preferred.
Experience working with developers to ensure high quality code is promoted rapidly to production without interruption in service.
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related work preferred.
Experience with MYSQL and/or MSSQL at a systems level preferred.
Experience setting up and modifying system monitoring – Nagios and New Relic preferred.
Scripting language experience preferred (Ruby, Python, Perl, PowerShell, etc.).
Experience using configuration management tools (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.).
Working knowledge of AWS, Jenkins, Docker, Redis, HAProxy, ELK, Apache, Tomcat, SOLR, ElasticSearch, and JVM tuning is a plus.
Comfortable in a frequent and incremental code testing and deployment environment.
Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional and organization borders.
Desire to learn and apply new technologies is required.
Ability and enthusiasm for solving complex problems.
Ability to communicate with people of varying levels of technical ability.
Comfortable learning independently and asking for help.
Applicants without documented work experience will be considered, but be prepared to demonstrate your ability to perform needed tasks. This position will require participation in a 24/7 on call rotation. Occasionally, this position will require more than 40 hours of work per week including evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
