Summary:The Senior Development Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting all software development activities, managing and orchestrating cloud and on-premise software deployments, engaging and collaborating with software development to define deployment solutions and monitoring and instrumentation of all environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Candidate will support all software development, providing leadership to both direct team members and software engineers in the areas of environment configuration environments, and leading process improvement efforts for development operation.
Be responsible for managing custom software deployment to cloud-based and/or internal environments
Through instrumentation of all environments, advise management of any significant capacity or stability issues
Creation of dashboards via tools such as NewRelic and DataDog to support environment monitoring.
Define (through code and automation) infrastructure/architecture to support custom software applications developed by the Product Development team
Ensure that applications and APIs are accessible to NextGear users and customers
Automation of uptime and status checking, and API availability status
Automation of machine image startup/shutdown on demand
Automation of on-demand deployment of new testing, training, and demonstration environments of systems developed by the Product Development team
Maintenance of images and backups of custom applications, as well as disaster recovery for cloud deployments
Experience designing, implementing and supporting Linux in enterprise-level organizations
Provide technical leadership in the area of application and infrastructure redundancy, working with development and infrastructure teams to identify, document, and test disaster recovery plans for on premise and cloud hosted solutions
Other duties as assigned


Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
6+ years Linux, web development, and/or sysadmin/cloud operations experience, with any modern development language (Java, Python, Go, etc.)
Extensive experience maintaining Linux server environments
Experience with Mac OS X support and configuration preferred
Experience preferred in one or more of the following technologies:
PostgreSQL 9+, SQL Server
Automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, and Salt
System monitoring and logging tools such as NewRelic, DataDog, Nagios, and Splunk.
Public cloud deployments to environments such as Amazon EC2 or Azure
Private cloud deployments to environments such as VMWare and/or OpenStack
Ability to learn, use, implement, and integrate leading technologies
Experience with Docker a significant plus
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to think strategically
Able to work independently, self-motivated, and a strong team player
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate with all levels of the organization
Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and fix system configuration issues
Ability to provide technical guidance through example and experience to other team members
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
Previous experience in a team environment preferred
6+ years of experience with Linux
