Geofeedia received the Marketing Tech Award during TechPoint’s 16th annual Mira Awards honoring the best of tech in Indiana. Geofeedia provides location-based social media monitoring, intelligence and analysis for corporate security, public safety, media/journalism and marketing teams.
Geofeedia is the market leader in location-based social media monitoring, intelligence and analysis for corporate security, public safety, media/journalism and marketing teams. Geofeedia’s patented platform enables organizations to derive social intelligence from specific geographic locations to understand, in real-time, what’s happening within the areas most important to them. Geofeedia has secured 10 U.S. patents for its pioneering SaaS technology, and is a preferred application partner with Instagram.
To date, Geofeedia has raised $4 million in funding, led by Hyde Park Venture Capital and private investors and was named one of Gartner’s “Cool Vendors in Content and Social Analytics” in 2014.
Geofeedia’s growth definitely impressed the Mira Awards judges — they added up to 40 new customers a month throughout 2014. With clients like Amway, Associated Press, BBC, CNN, eBay, Facebook, Fox Sports, Mall of America, Marathon, Mashable, Microsoft and Nike; Geeofeedia has found a niche in marketing tech and social media that was begging for a solution.
The volume of social media data is massive, and that volume is increasing exponentially as more users share more data across new and existing social media platforms. However, the majority of social data does NOT include the brand name, keyword or hashtag organizations watch for to take action.
Today, organizations rely on consumers to use searchable handles (e.g. @delta) or hashtags (e.g. #fail) to find the conversations that matter most to them—missing the social conversations happening at their locations. Geofeedia enables organizations to create virtual perimeters around the locations that matter most to them (e.g. Indianapolis Airport) to listen for the conversations that matter in those locations.
TechPoint, Indiana’s tech ecosystem accelerator, honored 15 companies, entrepreneurs and educators on May 2, at the Mira Awards gala presented by BKD CPAs & Advisors. Mira — Latin for miracle and a variable star thousands of times brighter than the Earth’s sun — represents the best of tech in Indiana each year.
Forty-three independent, volunteer judges spent more than 700 collective hours reviewing and ranking the applications, interviewing the nominees and choosing the winners. Judges are primarily subject matter experts and experienced company founders and executives.
