Carmel, Indiana based pi lab received the Mobile Tech Award during TechPoint’s 16th annual Mira Awards honoring the best of tech in Indiana. From napkin sketch to creation, the pi lab team are experts in the steps necessary to produce special and engaging tech-enabled consumer products.



TCPT_Mira 2015 Badge-WinnerEdwin® the Duck is the first product by pi lab, launching later this year. Edwin, along with the Edwin the Duck app, leverages the everyday activities of story time, sleepy time, play time and bath time to create extraordinary learning and growing experiences.

Edwin the Rubber Duck is actually a sophisticated piece of technology. He is equipped with a rechargeable lithium ion battery, LED light, Bluetooth® and BTLE wireless connectivity, accelerometer, waterproof speaker and thermometer. Edwin also comes with a rechargeable nest to place him in during bedtime and has a battery life of up to 8 hours.

The judges were particularly impressed with they way pi lab developed a complete mobile experience — leveraging the best of mobile technology, apps and the internet of things to create Edwin the Duck.

The Edwin App, compatible with iOS, Android, and Windows devices, is key to bringing Edwin’s world to life. pi lab works with world-renowned educators, musicians and cognitive specialists to create rewarding experiences for children. The Edwin App is comprised of four key areas: Story Time, Sleepy Time, Play Time and Bath Time, each providing fully animated and interactive stories songs and games, design to engage children and make learning fun.



TechPoint, Indiana’s tech ecosystem accelerator, honored 15 companies, entrepreneurs and educators on May 2, at the Mira Awards gala presented by BKD CPAs & Advisors. Mira — Latin for miracle and a variable star thousands of times brighter than the Earth’s sun — represents the best of tech in Indiana each year.

Forty-three independent, volunteer judges spent more than 700 collective hours reviewing and ranking the applications, interviewing the nominees and choosing the winners. Judges are primarily subject matter experts and experienced company founders and executives.
