After a trailblazing 20-year career in government service and executive roles, Amy Brown chose a bold new entrepreneurial path for herself that has the potential to permanently disrupt corporate America. AuthentiCx, her fast-growing tech startup, is solving one of the biggest pain points all companies face (but especially healthcare): bringing the data-backed, authentic voice of patients and customers into the boardroom to affect positive change.

The Mira Awards judges were inspired by Amy’s choice to leave a highly successful executive career to strike out on her own and tackle one the oldest and largest problems in business. What might seem like hubris coming from others is merely the next natural evolution coming from Amy, who repeatedly sought out and rose to positions where she could make a meaningful impact. Early in her career she helped enact the Safe Haven Law, which has since protected the lives of nearly 50 newborns. By the age of 27, she was serving as health policy director for Indiana’s Governor, where she helped craft a plan to insure 500,000 Hoosiers through Medicaid and was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash, the state’s highest civilian honor. Amy’s drive and tenacity have defined her career as much as her choices to stand for what she believes is right and just, including advocating for underserved populations.

Through two decades of leadership positions spanning all facets of the healthcare and insurance spaces, Amy found a familiar pattern. Despite pledges to put the voice of the patient or customer first, companies rarely listened. Like most businesses today, they bombarded patients and users with unwanted surveys in emails and robocalls, only to get skewed results from a very small pool of responses.

AuthentiCx allows businesses to listen to customers by unearthing the wealth of customer data already available through customer calls and chats. By blending human and automated analysis of customer interactions, the AuthentiCx platform connects corporate executives with the real voices of customers to make informed business decisions.

The judges believe Amy’s remarkable leadership and passion are responsible for AuthentiCx’s rapid growth and early successes, including being named top culture startup of 2019 by PowderKeg. With solely a minimum viable product in hand, Amy secured five clients, including a top 10 pharmaceutical contract within her first year, and grew her team to 14 employees all while bootstrapping the company.
