Eli Lilly and Company won the Large Enterprise of the Year award during TechPoint’s 22nd annual Mira Awards gala honoring the best of tech in Indiana.

Eli Lilly and Company needs no introduction. The pharmaceutical industry leader has been an anchor employer and tech innovator throughout the decades as our tech community has grown into a national tech hub.

When 2020 began, Lilly anticipated a busy year of clinical trials, FDA approvals and delivering new medicines. What impressed the Mira Awards judges most was the company’s response to the global coronavirus health crisis. Enabled by numerous advanced technologies, Lilly brought the full force of its scientific, medical and technical expertise to attack COVID-19, while keeping its employees safe and continuing to supply medicines for the 40 million people around the world who rely on them.

The judges noted that Lilly was the first pharmaceutical company in the country to offer on-site drive-through testing, which they launched in just three weeks, having a significant impact on local healthcare providers and first responders.

The speed by which Lilly conceptualized, developed and delivered solutions to the global crisis matched the urgency of the moment and, once again, proved the company’s value to the city, state, country and to the world. Lilly never lost sight of its oversized role in leading by example with its company culture and improving the percentage of women, minorities and LGBTQ employees in technical and management roles.

TechPoint, the nonprofit, industry-led growth accelerator for Indiana’s tech ecosystem, honored the successes and innovation of Indiana people, places, companies and products during the 22nd annual and second virtual Mira Awards gala with presenting sponsor Salesforce.
