PIER Group wins Service Partner of the Year Mira Award
Jasper, Ind.-based PIER Group won the award for Service Partner of the Year during TechPoint’s 22nd annual Mira Awards gala honoring the best of tech in Indiana. PIER Group is a woman-owned consulting firm that provides tech solutions for the research and education industry.
PIER Group moved aggressively to help its research and education clients develop solutions to respond to the various challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic. This included the design and deployment of regional and local internet hot spots, as well as improving clients’ capabilities to rapidly respond to a new delivery model, focused on increased remote learning.
Indiana University contracted with PIER Group to help provide free, 24-hour, high-speed Wi-Fi access across the state to IU students, faculty, and staff as well as the general public who may not have internet connectivity due to COVID-19-related library and business closures.
This new service of parking lot “hot spots” is innovative that in record time these access points were installed to ensure IU students and students across the Bloomington area could finish their semester by maintaining and following social distancing regulations while accessing the internet from their cars.
TechPoint, the nonprofit, industry-led growth accelerator for Indiana’s tech ecosystem, honored the successes and innovation of Indiana people, places, companies and products during the 22nd annual and second virtual Mira Awards gala with presenting sponsor Salesforce.
