Eleven Fifty Academy won the Talent Impact Award during TechPoint’s 23rd annual Mira Awards gala honoring the best of tech in Indiana.

Indianapolis-based Eleven Fifty Academy was created to change the economic trajectory of low-income, less educated or underemployed adults and their families by increasing post-secondary educational attainment and employability.

With community and employer partners, Eleven Fifty is building a tech workforce pipeline at scale. Its graduates have filled more than 800 tech jobs since the start of the pandemic, earn average starting salaries of $54,000 and 97% of them remain in the Indiana tech ecosystem.

The Mira Awards Judges think the Academy’s results speak impressively for themselves, but the Academy leaders don’t stop there. President and Founder Scott Jones created, championed and shepherded the nation’s first Progressive Income Share Agreement for tech workforce training, which the Indiana General Assembly funded to the tune of $75 million.

Eleven Fifty also worked with partners on the “Advancing Tech” initiative resulting in grant funding focused on building tech talent from non-traditional sources. Lilly Endowment Inc. provided $5 million to support students living in the lowest income zip code in the state.

TechPoint, the nonprofit, industry-led growth accelerator for Indiana’s tech ecosystem, honored the successes and innovation of Indiana people, companies and products during the 23rd annual Mira Awards gala with presenting sponsor Salesforce.

A total of 16 award winners and honorees were chosen from the 125 outstanding people, companies and products that were selected as nominees for their achievements during the 2021 calendar year.

Fifty-two independent, volunteer judges spent more than 850 total hours evaluating applications, interviewing nominees, and selecting this year’s winners. Judges included an impressive roster of company founders, CEOs and presidents, CTOs, CIOs, engineers and other industry professionals.

TechPoint’s Mira Awards are named after the first of the brilliant variable stars to be discovered—the Mira Star. It is also the Latin root meaning “worthy of admiration, wonderful, marvelous.” The awards represent the best of tech in Indiana each year.
