The first-ever IndyXmas was a great success (and a pretty fun party) that brought together more than 230 attendees (over a third from out of town). It was a night of celebrating the successes of Indianapolis in 2013 and connection with some of Indy’s hottest tech companies. IndyXmas is powered by TechPoint’s IndyX Initiative, which focuses on connecting talented out-of-towners and students with the city of Indianapolis and its tech companies through events, communication, or internships.
Companies in the Indianapolis area posted more than 9,600 computer-related job openings in 2013 alone. Results from TechPoint’s recent tech workforce survey show that 79 percent of surveyed companies indicate that at least eight out of ten of their tech employees are from Indiana or have an Indiana family connection.
The Indy tech community is growing, and it saw many successes in 2013. Interactive Intelligence is one of the 200 largest software companies in the world, Angie’s List is utilized by 200 million households across the country, ExactTarget’s acquisition by Salesforce was the largest cloud acquisition in New York Stock Exchange history and Apparatus achieved national reach and Inc. 5000 status five years in row. Forbes ranked Indy in the top 10 cities for tech job growth.  More growth and success requires even more talented people. And thus IndyXmas was born.
