Ingredients for Success in Business: Scott Webber Shares His Recipe
When Scott Webber takes the time to share some tips on how to be successful in business, it’s a good idea to listen. The private equity investor, chairman and CEO, and “tech growth whisperer” has a track record that includes extraordinary revenue increases and pioneering business moves that landed him on “Indiana’s List of Firsts.”
- Scott served as chief executive of Corepoint Technologies, a global IBM software company, where he increased flat revenues by 60% in a period of eight months.
- As President and CEO of Software Artistry, Inc., he led the company to the first successful software IPO in the state of Indiana, and later to an acquisition by Tivoli Systems, an IBM company.
- Scott also spent 10 years at Pansophic Systems, Inc.; a software company that grew from a $30 million privately held company to a $230 million publicly traded company during his tenure.
Currently, Scott serves as Chairman and CEO of BidPal, the Indianapolis-based tech firm that is revolutionizing charitable fundraising by helping nonprofits use technology to make their events more fun and more profitable.
Of note, BidPal won the 2012 TechPoint Mira Awards for mobile technology excellence and innovation and for emerging tech company of the year. According to the judges, BidPal’s ability to create high-density area networks that handle the massive amounts of congestion that can happen when, for example, 1,000 people are using mobile devices to vote at the same time, that truly put them over the top. BidPal has not only improved the very laborious process of producing charitable auctions, but they have “gamified” it using mobile technology and doubled the financial impact for their customers.
Scott was the special guest speaker at TechPoint’s Tech Thursday on July 19, and he shared his “Ingredients for Success” presentation. (View the presentation via Slideshare above.)
