POSITION SUMMARY

Account Supervisors are senior to Account Managers and Senior Account Managers. They have demonstrated experience in a wide range of high-level communications activities with a variety of clients, yielding excellent results. Account Supervisors are less closely supervised and serve as mentors for more junior staff. They usually serve as account leads and primary contacts for multiple key clients, providing high-level client counsel. Account Supervisors build lasting relationships with their clients, negotiating resolutions to client conflicts as needed, as well as communicating regularly to provide ongoing strategic recommendations leading to consistent account growth and continued client profitability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and execute PR campaigns aligned with client business goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, bloggers, and influencers to support positive brand visibility and trust.
  • Develop media materials, proactively pitch story ideas, and coordinate interviews and media placements.
  • Provide crisis communication support, including drafting statements and guiding client response.
  • Lead media and spokesperson trainings to prepare clients for effective engagement with press and key audiences.
  • Create and optimize owned content to strengthen brand narratives and support organic SEO/AEO/GEO performance.
  • Support reputation management efforts, including monitoring coverage, assessing risks, and developing response recommendations.
  • Conduct digital trust assessments to identify opportunities to strengthen client credibility online.
  • Track media coverage, analyze campaign performance, and provide insights to optimize PR strategy.
  • Stay current on media, industry, and cultural trends to identify new opportunities for clients.
  • Serve as a day-to-day client contact, managing status updates, deliverables, and mid-level counsel.
  • Ensure high-quality work, strategic alignment, and client satisfaction across assigned accounts.
  • Manage scopes, timelines, and budgets; address out-of-scope needs as they arise.
  • Lead the development of briefs, research summaries, program recommendations, and post-campaign reports.
  • Identify opportunities to grow client accounts through ongoing strategic recommendations.
  • Partner internally on new business efforts when needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years’ experience in PR or advertising
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree within appropriate discipline such as Business, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
  • Specialist experience in one or more of the following key areas: media relations, employee engagement or change communications, digital/social PR strategies, community relations, public outreach, media planning and buying, advertising, brand development or digital marketing strategy

COMPETENCIES

  • Solid experience in PR, advertising, brand development and/or digital strategy who understands and pushes the boundaries of traditional marketing
  • Service-oriented with the ability to balance keeping clients satisfied, while delivering solid counsel
  • Business mindset and ability to understand what clients’ successes look like and ensure goals are met, while also achieving success for the agency
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with agency and client teams to develop and execute plans to meet client goals
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Natural presenter and meeting leader
