Job Description

The person hired for the position of Network Engineer will enjoy a variety of tasks in a great team environment. The Network Engineer is responsible for implementing, monitoring and managing the local and wide area networks of an organization to ensure maximum uptime for users. The role can include system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary.

The Network Engineer position establishes and maintains network performance by building net configurations and connections; troubleshooting network problems.

The Network Engineer coordinates with the implementation team and performs related tasks such as:

-Implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks
-Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
-Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
-Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
-Arranging scheduled upgrades
-Investigating faults in the network
-Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
-Reporting network status to key stakeholders
-Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
-Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
-Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
-Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
-Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
-Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
-Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution


-Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
-Experience with Cisco Unified Wireless including configuration of wireless LAN controllers is desirable
-Proven hands-on network engineering experience
CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued)
-Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
-Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
-Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
-High energy and drive with good negotiation skills
Proficient with general office applications
-Strong organizational, presentation, time management, and customer service skills
-Skill in preparing written communications and materials
-Interpersonal skills: such as telephony skills, communication skills, active listening and customer-care
-Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly
-Valid driver’s license
-The person hired for the position will require the ability to travel to customer locations
-Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, other language abilities are a plus
-Ability to work with cross functional teams and across multiple functions and disciplines
-Ability to engage and influence others
-Ability to understand and apply analytical and statistics tools
-Results oriented with strong process and execution skills
