Reporting to the Director, Product Marketing for Teaching & Learning, the ideal candidate will understand our products, prospect and client needs, market opportunities, and competitive threats and positioning, and apply this knowledge to build excitement that drives Blackboard sales. As the Product Marketing Manager for Web-Conferencing you should also have a working knowledge of how on-line learning is impacting education and the challenges that institutions face in today’s competitive market. The Product Marketing Manager owns client needs definition, product messaging, sales enablement and sales tools, market readiness support process and the orchestration of product launches to key audiences. Essential to this position is an understanding of Blackboard products and how they go to market, working with Blackboard sales and customers, the ability to guide and work effectively with cross-functional teams, and the ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally.  You’ll collaborate closely with Product Management and the Corporate and Field Marketing teams, as well as the rest of the Product Marketing l team to define, communicate, and execute our high-level Marketing and Brand strategy.
The Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for:
Developing and overseeing the planning and launch of new capabilities for web-conferencing, those oriented towards providing greater access to education without regards for location.
Developing and creating product positioning which differentiates Blackboard from the competition.
Developing and delivering sales enablement plans, tools and training content to drive sales effectiveness across the capabilities in your portfolio.
Developing internal and external communication plans through collaboration with Product Management and Corporate and Field Marketing in the Market Readiness Process.
Developing programs to increase the installed base of web-conferencing clients through collaboration with Product Management and Corporate and Field Marketing.
In order to do the above, the Product Marketing Manager will be required to:
Develop integrated marketing plans for the product or campaign launch.
Lead, manage, and execute product launches, including go-to-market programs for product releases, and select solutions or cross-platform initiatives.
Research and assess buyer needs, priorities, and buying processes.
Research and provide industry updates to company on trends, competitive products and other factors that shape the industry and Blackboard products and make recommendations on product positioning and messaging, and competitive differentiators.
Define and track project success metrics.
Oversee the development and delivery of client-facing collateral/resources, field training, and sales enablement tools.
Coordinate with numerous groups including Sales, Customer Success Advocates, Corporate Marketing, Field Marketing, Product Management, and Development.
Support all market segments including Global Higher Education, Professional Education, and K-12.
3-5 years of applicable B2B experience in the Education or Technology industry.
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree required (a degree in Marketing or Business is highly preferred).
A plus is knowledge and experience with web-conferencing products.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally with senior levels of management within Blackboard and across external partners.
Outstanding project management and coordination skills with ability to track multiple simultaneous projects and deliverables.
Ability to translate client need into business requirements and software features into client benefits.
Analytically rigorous! Can apply pricing and financial analyses, competitive analyses, sales feedback, and client measurements into actionable, viable campaigns.
Comfortable with researching, collecting, analyzing, synthesizing, and presenting data.
Experience in lead-generation programs and activities.
Comfortable serving as an advocate for the Product Marketing team across the rest of the organization.
A can-do attitude with passion and enthusiasm.
Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Idea-driven and creative, and can articulate ideas in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Fluency in written and spoken English, other languages a plus.
