Reporting to Sr. Director of Distribution Center Design, this role is responsible for providing strategic oversight and guidance for team members in the planning, organizing, and managing of projects assigned to the Distribution Center Design Team. Ensures successful execution of activities related to assigned facility design projects and provides recommendations for consulting process standardization. Develops detailed project plans that include estimates of costs, schedules, and resources required. Defines project parameters to other functional teams participating in the project. Develops and reviews project funding and expense budget. Develops repeatable project plans that can be executed against in future projects of similar type and scope.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide guidance and oversight for consulting resources to deliver high quality deliverables and maintain project and consulting budgets
Lead project managers and consultants through data analysis and development of design criteria to serve as the basis for updated designs
Cultivate relationships with varying level of a client’s team (i.e. executive level, engineering, operations, IT, etc.)
Responsible to present and discuss strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others, and establishes understanding for technical and non-technical audiences
Optimize operations based on best practices and client’s order profile/volumes (automation, systems, process, people, etc.)
Recommend solutions including financial analysis (ROI, IRR, etc.)
Provide guidance in analyzing raw datasets into project insights using the following tools: Expert-level skill in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio, and AutoCAD; Using relational databases, such as MS Access or SQL
Desired experience includes:
Design and optimization of warehousing operations
Slotting best practices
LEAN Six Sigma, or similar experience
Ability to execute and guide consultants through data cleansing and data analysis on large datasets
Knowledge of best of breed WMS/WES to increase efficiency of operations
Required to communicate with clients, associates, management, and general stakeholders clearly and concisely on all projects

Skills and Experience Needed:

Bachelor’s Degree Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or similar discipline
10-12 years of experience and knowledge of distribution operations across different distribution channels and industries (i.e. e-commerce, wholesale, retail, drop-ship)
Minimum 7-10 years of proven experience managing multiple complex DC optimization projects
Strong written and verbal communication
Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques in a highly complex environment using leading-edge technology
Proven experience optimizing operations based on best practices and client’s operational profiles (automation, systems, process, people, etc.)
Strong ability to cultivate relationships with varying level of a client’s team (executive level, engineering, operations, IT, etc.)
Proven experience in presenting strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others, and establishes understanding for technical and non-technical audiences
Strong analytic abilities required to turn mass data into project insights, with the ability to justify recommended solutions including financial analysis (ROI, IRR, etc.)
Expert-level skills required with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Power Point and AutoCAD; Must have working knowledge of relational database, such as MS Access or SQL
