We’re seeking an experienced Systems Administrator who will become part of a dynamic team responsible for the 24x7 uptime of the hc1.com platform and its related services. As part of our Technical Operations team, you will work closely with senior leadership, software engineering and architecture to continue to build and maintain world-class infrastructure.
You will be building infrastructure and high-availability systems in addition to working closely with software engineering to bring our application to that infrastructure through continuous integration. There are also opportunities to enhance our local technological footprint utilizing new evolving technologies along with existing standard help-desk procedures.
What you will be doing:
Support high-availability and scalable infrastructure, including on-call rotation
Investigate and prepare recommendations to the Operations Team on new technologies.
Provide front line assistance to hc1.com vendors when they are on-site.
Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly
Maintain internal infrastructure requirements including, laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates; support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments
Interact with the help desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed
Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems, including all backups
Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware
Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative
Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems that provide commercial advantage in a global marketplace
Enable faster and smarter business processes and implement analytics for meaningful insights
Nurture dependable IT infrastructure and networking that’s always up and running
Partner with internal and external partners to communicate project status, activities, and achievements
Your background should include:
4-year degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
3 - 5 years of Linux/Unix Administration
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and self start projects
Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Experience administering and monitoring cloud-based infrastructures
Experience with modern configuration standardization and deployment tools
Experience serving in a dynamic team environment with gradual on-call responsibilities
Familiarity with at least one modern scripting language (Python, Java, etc)
Proficiency supporting local technology stacks and user platforms (ie Windows 10, Mac OS, telephony systems)
