Director of Portfolio Success

Job Description

The Director of Portfolio Success is responsible for supporting founders in scaling their companies and raising their next rounds of funding. The ideal candidate will serve as an experienced outside voice, providing guidance on various aspects such as ideation, product roadmaps, technology implementation, hiring strategies, sales roadmaps, revenue generation, and shaping the future story of the company. In addition, you will play a key role in determining portfolio success metrics and tracking progress, ensuring alignment with overall company goals and enabling valuable insights for continuous improvement.

What you’ll do:
– Advise and guide founders on key aspects of company growth, offering strategic insights and feedback to support scaling efforts and successful fundraising.
– Create a trusted space for co-founders to discuss ideas, roadmaps, hiring strategies, and sales objectives, helping shape a compelling narrative for the company’s future.
– Collaborate with stakeholders to define meaningful success metrics for portfolio companies and track their progress, providing actionable recommendations for performance improvement.
– Conduct research on the competitive landscape, emerging technologies, and potential partners using Crunchbase, sharing valuable industry insights to inform strategic decision-making.
– Assist in developing accurate financial models aligned with strategic plans, helping founders understand financial implications and make informed decisions.
– Mentor and coach founding teams, leveraging personal experience to guide them through scaling challenges and optimize path-to-seed strategies.
– Foster a culture of continuous learning by sharing learnings and best practices, and developing the financial acumen of Business Design within the organization.
– Collaborate with the Business Design team to pass on learnings from Accelerate and coach them on path-to-seed startup operations and financial models.

What we need from you:
– In-depth expertise in financial modeling, proven expertise with the ability to develop complex financial models and provide insightful analysis for all portfolio companies.
– Firsthand experience as a founder, providing valuable insights and guidance based on their own entrepreneurial journey, enabling a deeper understanding of the challenges and needs of portfolio companies.
– Expertise in early stage go to market strategy.
– Expansive network and relationships in the venture space; when you call people are excited to support you in any way they can.
– Ability to manage a wide range of responsibilities simultaneously, maintaining exceptional organizational skills.
– Strong problem solver able to embrace ambiguity, uncertainty, and changing business landscapes.
– Excellent relationship builder and communicator, polished executive presence, and ability to instill confidence in their work.
– Adept at using the tools necessary for executing in the role including Excel, Crunchbase, slide creation, and more.
