High AlphaProduct Development 6-8 Years

Job Description

A High Alpha we partner with exceptional founders to conceive, launch, and scale next-generation enterprise cloud companies through the application of business strategy, world-class design, and product development. We design new businesses from the ground up by providing the critical research, infrastructure, talent, and resources that companies need to innovate and scale quickly.

One of our vital studio services is product development in which we advise our portfolio company leaders on how to begin building an enterprise software application in the most efficient, scalable manner. We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to serve as a thought leader and advisor for our earliest stage companies, to lead and contribute alongside the internal High Alpha engineering team, and to manage the projects that support our portfolio companies.

The High Alpha engineering team typically supports 2-4 of our earliest stage companies at a time until those companies have hired a full engineering team of their own. In addition to supporting the planning of the architecture and MVP, our internal team contributes to building the foundation of the product. We use the latest emerging technologies to design, build, and deliver high quality, robust solutions, so we are looking for a senior full stack software engineer with experience developing within a cloud environment and a passion for staying up-to-date on constantly emerging new technologies and languages.

What We’re Looking For:
5+ years of software engineering experience in developing large-scale applications utilizing a variety of languages and technologies
An ideal candidate will have experience managing a team of software engineers, but we’re also open to talking if that is the next step in your career
Business acumen, executive presence, and comfort communicating to and advising c-suite business stakeholders
Expertise in JavaScript development, specifically in Node
Familiarity with UI frameworks like React, Angular, or others
Previous experience using AWS/Google Cloud APIs and product services
Experience in constructing and securing publicly-available APIs
Knowledge of continuous deployment practices, including automated testing and continuous integration
Experience working and collaborating with a team of fellow engineers and designers
A desire for professional development and continued learning
You’re self-motivated and comfortable working in an ambiguous environment and can take minimal direction to drive to desired goals
Ability to work on everything from the very tactical to strategic and manage one’s time effectively
You are excited about the fast pace of a growing, changing startup environment
