Data Science Engineer – Indianapolis Office

ANGI Homeservices operates 10 brands in eight countries, and is headquartered in Golden, Colo. The Data Science Engineer will sit in our Indianapolis office.

Who we are looking for:

Angie’s List has a great deal of data and we are currently just beginning to add layers in terms of predictive modeling, pattern recognition, and advanced analytics. There are many fun and challenging data related activities to be solved here, and we encourage you to think creatively when solving said challenges. As Angie’s List continually leverages data to drive both operational and tactical level decisions as well as to develop product enhancements, we will look to the Data Scientist to provide actionable insights and/or innovative data products for solving some of the most complex business situations.

What you will do:

Design and build new analytical data models and/or enhance existing data models
Perform descriptive and predictive analysis
Present findings and/or proposed solutions to business stakeholders
Work closely with the product management, data architecture and data management teams to generate business intelligence solutions and approaches

2+ years of experience performing quantitative analysis, predictive analytics, mathematical modeling, and/or machine learning
Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or similar quantitative field
Bachelor’s plus equivalent work experience is also acceptable
Strong programming skills in Python and/or R
Deep knowledge of machine learning and data mining algorithms
Appetite to continually learn new modeling techniques and/or technologies
Ability to communicate effectively via multiple channels (verbal, written, etc) with technical and non-technical staff
Demonstrable teamwork skills
Proficient in SQL
Strongly Preferred:

Knowledge of advanced methods such as Monte Carlo techniques, Bayesian inference, NLP, deep learning, reinforcement learning
Knowledge of Linux and Git commands
Experience with Tableau
Experience with Java or other general-purpose programming language
Experience with Spark, Hadoop, and non-relational data stores
