Location: Remote; physically located in the United States (EST time zone preferred)

Seeking a Senior Data Engineer to be part of our Carmel, Indiana based Business Intelligence team. Our growing, multi-billion dollar business is investing heavily in BI technology and people, and are hungry for data and analytics. We work in a collaborative, fast paced environment and are looking for individuals who are self-motived and excited about the ever-evolving data and technology space.

In this role, you will collaborate with business partners, for assessing needs and gathering requirements, as well as with technical system owners, for determining data location and system specifications. This role will also require extensive data profiling and analysis, including the ability to provide interactive visualizations. This role will be expected to perform multiple functions, including data discovery and analysis, data modeling, data movement, and data transformation. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or re-designing our company’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

The ADESA Business Intelligence team is building a modern platform to drive data driven decision-making across ADESA and KAR. ADESA is undergoing a technology transformation, both at our physical auctions and online platforms, and is in demand of a data and analytics platform to support our expanding portfolio of business opportunities.

This role will provide the opportunity to work hand in hand with our business partners, including executive leadership, to implement solutions that unlock the power of data driven decision making across the organization and industry.

What You Will Be Doing:

Collaborate with business partners to understand processes and the relationship to data velocity, availability, and quality

Design, implement data models and data engineering solutions for our data warehouse
Work with stakeholders to gather requirements for to-be solutions
Identify improvement areas to enhance existing data processes and offerings
Mentor others to improve analytical skillsets across the organization
Create visual solutions to deliver to stakeholders
Design solutions with a focus on cloud, PaaS, SaaS, and serverless services
What You Need to Be Successful:

Experience engineering data ingestion and transformation solutions (ex. Azure Data Factory, Informatica, SSIS, Talend, Pentaho, Python, Databricks, stored procedures, etc.)
Experience creating and modifying data models within a Data Warehouse
Advanced SQL and RDBMS experience (ex. Snowflake, RedShift, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.)
Advanced ability to visualize data (Tableau experience preferred)
Understanding and practice of Agile and DevOps principles
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and break down problems
Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present information
Bonus:

Data project management experience
Experience with cloud warehousing and analytics (ex. Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
Experience with semi-structured and unstructured data
OOP or functional programming experience (ex. Python, Java, C++, Scala, R, etc.)
Working knowledge of message queuing and stream processing
