As an Automation Engineer, you will use DevOps technologies to build infrastructure automation solutions for customers. In this role, you will use your technical knowledge and real-world IT experience to help Kinney Group’s customers automate complex processes and build secure systems for customers in both the commercial and public sectors. To be successful in this role, you must enjoy solving challenging technical problems in both solo and team-based projects. This role requires a motivation to learn new technologies quickly with the intention of becoming a certified expert in a given discipline.
Additionally, as an Automation Engineer, you will play a central role in expanding the Kinney Group Next Generation Data Center Engineering practice. This is a customer facing role where you will have the opportunity to consult with customers and guide them through their automation and technical challenges using technology platforms such as Puppet, Splunk and VMware.
Desired Skills & Experience
Experience automating infrastructure provisioning processes with VMware vRealize Automation and vRealize Orchestrator.
Knowledgeable of foundational DevOps concepts such as source code management and infrastructure-as-code.
Industry certifications like Security+
Experience working in Agile team environments using Scrum or Kanban.
Capable of learning and adapting to new technologies quickly.
Experience with customer-focused solution development.
Ability to travel up to 75%
BS in computer science, computer technology or other related degrees.
Automation Engineer should have three (3) years of hands-on experience in IT systems administration with Windows or Linux platforms.
Three (3) years of demonstrated experience writing scripts in bash and/or PowerShell. Additional software development experience using languages such as Java, Python or Ruby is highly desirable.
Three (3) years of experience in advanced usage of Virtualization technologies. VMware strongly preferred.
Experience using Puppet for automation and configuration management. Will consider Ansible, Chef or SaltStack experience as well.
Experience with system hardening.
Experience in building CI/CD pipelines for software testing and delivery.
Public, private and/or hybrid cloud implementation and administration experience. AWS is preferred.
