We are looking for a forward-thinking leader to join our Data Delivery team. The Director of Data Delivery has a primary responsibility to direct and oversee data movement and related activities. They will plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the department, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations.
This person will assist in driving OneAmerica’s DevOps transformation through process design, DevOps Championing, and supporting our Agile transformation efforts. This role will have direct reports and will be responsible for assisting in the creation of functional strategies and specific objectives for the engineers that are part of this team and also to develop a cohesive team environment that maximizes OneAmerica’s values and strengths in a rapidly evolving business environment. Prior experience with Data Technologies, DevOps implementation patterns, CI/CD best practices, ITIL, and Object Oriented Development is a must for this role. Strong knowledge of NoSQL databases and cloud technologies, with an emphasis on Azure will also be extremely beneficial. This role is expected to work autonomously being able to add value given a goal and direction, challenge the status quo, and be an excellent collaborator.
Develop and coach a high performing team through transformation to DevOps and through a Data Architecture Modernization program.
Communicate team risks and successes to educate and ensure confidence in the direction of the team. Follow-up on open issues and action items to ensure they are resolved.
Collaborate to implement best practices, standards, and procedures to encourage team consistency, efficiency, and maintainability. Work with Data Practice Leads and the Enterprise Architecture team to develop and implement OneAmerica’s data delivery strategy.
Responsible for ensuring their teams (OneAmerica associates and third-party vendors) are delivering project outcomes to business objectives.
Work with the IT Plan Organization and Enterprise Application leaders to solve project resource and process issues.
Identify metrics necessary to ensure the team is improving their quality and delivery efficiency – both in development and support capabilities.
Work with team members to develop their personal development plans and support them along their career journey including regular performance feedback. Assess gaps in teams’ performance and ensure adequate measures to fulfill the gaps through capacity alignment and training.
Work with team members to ensure their key actions align to the enterprise and team goals.
Actively engage in external industry stakeholders and peer groups to bring forward best practices as well as foster partnership within the greater community.
Create partnerships and networks in the industry to leverage in talent development and acquisition.
Provide EWA leadership – empowerment through forming and following OAWays, creating experiences that lead to the right actions and results for the organization, and clarifying decision making authority.
Serve as a champion for organizational change initiatives associated with Development of IT associates. Work closely with Enterprise Architecture and key technology vendors to understand and influence their roadmaps and integration with OneAmerica.
Required Education and/or Certifications
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or a related business discipline.
Required Work Experience
10+ years of experience with progression of increased responsibility
7-10 years of experience in technology 3+ years of direct people management experience
Experience working with third-party resource vendors to drive delivery results through geographically diverse teams
Experience working with third-party technology tool vendors in setting direction, vision, and roadmaps for execution
Passion for developing employees, fostering growth and leading teams
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Competent to implement and drive development strategies
An analytical mindset used to collect, gather and analyze data in a concise and actionable presentation
Ability to organize resources and drive teams to results
Excellent public speaking and presentation skills to clearly articulate views on a wide variety of topics
