SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Under direct supervision, fixes software defects and develops software features. Researches answers to technical questions and identifies the causes of software defects. This position is staffed by beginners who have had sufficient educational background and/or experience to qualify them to start in software development.

Accountabilities
35% Bug fixes: Identifies and fixes software defects.
50% Feature development: Develops new features with guidance and assistance from senior developers. Writes fix notes, release notes, and test plans.
5% Performs written code reviews of the work of colleagues.
5% Documentation: Writes internal documentation regarding feature functionality, troubleshooting, and standards.
5% Training: Learns about new areas of the software and keeps abreast of technical and laboratory industry news.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in a software-related field

Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to develop software in one or more languages
Ability to learn quickly and independently through reading online help, searching JIRA, and/or searching our ORC knowledge base
Ability to write clear and detailed release notes and test plans
Knowledge of relational databases
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
Majority of work is independent with some work in teams
Flexible work hours
