PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the operations of secure and highly available computing platforms, servers, and storage whether on premise or in the cloud. They install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve the Company’s operating environment. They also maintain the ongoing reliability, performance and support of the infrastructure. This includes monitoring the operating environments; responding to incidents/problems and planning for growth. Individuals in this role also assist with the overall operation and maintenance of the data center. Infrastructure Engineers deploy the release of new technologies as well as design, install, configure, maintain and perform testing of hypervisors, server operating systems, storage, and related utilities and hardware. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting problems as reported by users and maintaining a secure systems environment. They also help design solutions based on application needs and anticipated growth, install new servers and maintain the infrastructure.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participates in design of infrastructure solutions by gathering business requirements, translating to physical requirements, and evaluating against capabilities of existing environments
Defines and ensures implementation of data replication and business continuity processes including backups
Monitors performance and analyzes data from monitoring activities to proactively identify uptime issues, and make recommendations for eliminating those issues
Participates in overall project planning, tracking, issues resolution, vendor coordination
Works across teams to ensure IT system upgrades and service pack deployments are implemented with minimal impact to production operation
Works with vendors and architects to understand their technology roadmaps
Provide third tier help desk support as needed for the infrastructure
Assist in the collection and preservation of asset tracking, inventory and licensing
Participate in the evolution and continuous improvement of the Change Control/Change Management process
Assist in design and development of infrastructure monitoring and reporting tools for infrastructure services
Ensures documentation is developed and maintained
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Thorough knowledge of HP infrastructure and management utilities including OneView, InfoSight, StorServ, and Insight Manager
Thorough knowledge of VMWare and associated technologies
Ability to work with minimal supervision, meet deadlines and see tasks through to completion
Strong ability to systemically analyze relationships between apparently independent problems and issues to identify root causes and effects
Acts in a way that demonstrates personal integrity
Self-motivated and strong team skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and effectively participate in a team environment
Must be able to plan, organize and coordinate appropriate resources as needed for projects
Ability to use critical thinking and logic skills to analyze data, interpret results, and resolve issues
Knowledge of system monitoring tools (SolarWinds) and their configuration
Knowledge of various operating systems and applications (AD, eDirectory, Lotus Notes, AS400, etc)
Experience with design and implementation of enterprise Data Centers
Hands on experience with VMWare
Hands on experience configuring HP storage and servers
Hands on experience managing SAN’s and SAN fabrics
Requires 4 year degree or equivalent knowledge and 5-7 years IT experience
Experience managing projects
