What You’ll Be Doing:

The Manager of Carrier Sales, has the primary responsibility for overseeing a group of Carrier Sales Reps and ensure that they are developing and growing long-term partnerships with 3rd party carriers. You will also be responsible for coaching your team, holding them accountable to their goals/quotas, and facilitating them in achieving those goals/quotas. As a Carrier Sales Manager you will also be accountable for helping to develop and execute strategic carrier sales initiatives. This role requires a leadership presence and the ability to energize and motivate. Possessing a self-starter mentality, taking ownership and accountability and being able to properly communicate to the department is vital to success in this role.
Assisting Carrier Sales Reps in identifying and pursuing opportunities with all new and current carriers
Work with Carrier Sales Reps to strategically source new carriers to improve overall service and profitability of the company. Instill positive habits in Carrier Sales Representatives, ensuring that they are prompt in response, knowledgeable in market trends, and following company and industry guidelines
Provide ongoing training of assigned staff through coaching and sales development
Conduct regular team performance reviews and coach employees accordingly
Address all employee performance problems promptly and directly in accordance with personnel policies of the Company
Provide responsible supervision and control for all team activities
Strengthen your reps' knowledge of the market and assist with pricing & negotiation as needed
Collaborate with management and executive team to ensure the entire carrier sales team is meeting expectations
Other duties as assigned

Our Ideal Candidate Is/Has:

Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Business Management, Supply Chain/Logistics or related field.
Familiar with all facets of the brokerage business such as: carrier procurement, issue resolution, contracts, liability, insurance, carrier safety, developing SOP's, structuring departments, etc
Clear and confident communication
Excellent negotiation skills
Knowledge of multiple modes of transportation: Van, Flatbed, Reefer, LTL, and Rail
5 years of 3rd Party Logistics experience preferred
2 years of sales management experience preferred
Dynamic leader with a bold presence and contagious positive attitude
Proven ability to contribute to a dynamic, high-energy sales team with varying levels of experience
Strong leader with a highly resilient and professional attitude
Experience in a fast-paced/startup environment, with a focus on technology is strongly desired
Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, problem solver who takes initiative
Proven ability to succeed with minimal guidance, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and take initiative under ambiguous circumstances
Ability to facilitate and motivate teams
Comfortable working in a high volume, fast-paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented work environment
Proficient computer skills with PC-based desktop applications, such as Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel), email, and web-based meeting and presentation applications, as well as CRM
Ability to build a talent pipeline of sales talent; experience in attracting, hiring and management talent at different levels of experience (e.g. experienced hires, new college hires)
Occasional travel with overnight stays required
