More than 275 homes and businesses in Jennings County now have access to high-speed Internet following the completion of a Comcast network expansion in southeastern Indiana.

The project, completed in partnership with the Indiana Broadband Office, brings multi-gigabit, symmetrical Internet from Xfinity and Comcast Business to previously underserved residents and businesses in the county.

“Investing in broadband is investing in the future of our communities,” said Matt Ubelhor, Indiana Secretary of Transportation & Infrastructure. “By expanding access to reliable, high-speed Internet, we’re creating new opportunities for education, economic growth, and connection in southeast Indiana, ensuring Hoosiers, regardless of where they live, can fully participate in today’s digital economy.”

The Jennings County expansion is part of Comcast’s partnership with the State of Indiana’s broadband grant program, which is focused on improving Internet access and adoption throughout the state. Comcast has also worked with the state to expand service to previously unserved and underserved areas of Hendricks, Wayne, Allen and Delaware counties.

Over the past three years, Comcast has invested more than $634 million to upgrade its network in Indiana and extend service to thousands of homes and businesses in rural communities.

Homes included in the Jennings County expansion can now access Xfinity services, including Internet, mobile, entertainment and home security offerings.

Local businesses can access Comcast Business services, including Internet and networking, communications and mobile solutions designed for businesses of different sizes.

Comcast also offers Internet Essentials, a broadband adoption program that provides eligible households with low-cost, high-speed Internet and affordable computers. The company supports additional digital opportunity efforts in Indiana through nonprofit investments, WiFi-connected Lift Zones and programs designed to build digital skills and increase Internet adoption.
