With Thanksgiving just around the corner, you might find yourself in a charitable mood and looking for a way to give thanks this holiday season by giving back in your community. TechPoint Foundation for Youth (TPF4Y) has you covered with our third annual #GivingTuesday Cheers, Beers & Trivia event taking place on November 29, at Metazoa Brewing Company (140 S. College Ave., Indianapolis).

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable giving season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

“We look at #GivingTuesday as an opportunity to engage the broader community in supporting our mission to connect underserved kids to science, technology, engineering, and math,” says Laura Dodds, Executive Director of TechPoint Foundation for Youth. “You don’t have to be a developer or a scientist volunteering with one of our programs. You just have to enjoy a beer, eat some food, and socialize with friends while supporting a great cause. It’s an easy way to feel good and have fun at the same time.”

This year, TechPoint Foundation for Youth is adding to the festivities by partnering with Metazoa Brewing Company for a trivia night. And with a foundation focused on inspiring kids through STEM education, the “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” theme for the evening was pretty easy to come by. There will be five rounds of trivia, with each round focused on one of the following topics: science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.

It’s $25 to register your team of up to five players, or you can sign up as a single player and be matched with a group of others looking for team members. Not into trivia? No problem. You can also register to show up just for the beer and socializing. Click here to get started

While there will be grand prizes for the top teams (as well as swag given away at the end of each round), the biggest reward is a $2,500 grant that trivia players will be awarding based on the points they earn during the game. At the end of the night, each team will be able to “donate” their points toward one of the three current TechPoint Foundation for Youth initiatives: CoderDojo Indiana, State Robotics Initiative, or US2020. The initiative with the most points will be given the $2,500 check.

So mark your calendars for Cheers, Beers, & Trivia on November 29, and plan to spend your evening supporting STEM education for kids. Register now by clicking here.
