Becky Copple brings more than 20 years of solution architecture experience to her role as Director of Revenue Operations at OneCause. Starting her career in information security as a consultant with Deloitte, she built her technical and management skills in the security and privacy practice and Identity Management Center of Excellence before taking a detour to teach in Chicago Public Schools.
In her current role at OneCause, she combines her background in education and technical expertise to help more nonprofits expand their missions through technology. When Becky isn’t working, she can be found volunteering, reading, or trying to make her three children kayak with her.
What led you to the tech industry and this occupation? What was your first job in tech?
My first job in technology was as a consultant with Deloitte’s security and privacy practice, back then called Secure e-Business. I specialized in ethical hacking, secure network architecture, regulatory compliance, and identity and access management. There was always a new puzzle to discover or a problem to solve. I LOVE puzzles, and these were puzzles I could do all day.
When you think of a day in your life, what are the main work activities you do or responsibilities you have?
My days usually include collaborating with different departments, working 1:1 with other RevOps team members, designing solutions, and troubleshooting. Every day brings something new, which I love. Our focus is always to drive revenue growth through efficiencies, whether it’s through refining a business process, creating automation, or making separate systems play nicely with each other.
Which resources would you recommend to those who want to learn more or advance their skills in this occupation?
If interested in Salesforce, I cannot say enough about their FREE training resource, Trailhead. I’m obsessed with it.
Becky is a Tech 25 winner who is helping to grow and improve the tech landscape of Indiana. She was nominated by her Vice President, Revenue Operations & Partnerships, Dan Gross of OneCause.
