TechPoint Kicks Off 2026 Xtern Summer Program with More Than 100 Interns at Nearly 30 Organizations
INDIANAPOLIS — June 1, 2026 — TechPoint has kicked off its 2026 Xtern summer program, welcoming 102 college students for full-time, paid tech internships with 29 organizations across Indiana.
Xtern is TechPoint’s signature summer internship program, connecting college students with Indiana employers for a 10-week professional experience. The program helps students build real-world skills, develop peer and professional networks, and explore Indiana as a place to live, work and launch a career.
This year’s Xtern class reflects the range of roles supporting Indiana’s digital economy. Students are working in software engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, IT/networking, product management, project management, marketing, HR, business analysis and engineering roles across mechanical, industrial and electrical disciplines.
For students, Xtern provides more than a summer job. Participants gain hands-on experience in high-demand career fields while taking part in professional development, civic engagement and community-building experiences designed to help them better understand the breadth of opportunity available in Indiana.
For employers, Xtern offers access to highly skilled emerging talent while strengthening the state’s early-career talent pipeline. The program gives companies a structured way to connect with students who are exploring where to begin their careers, while showcasing their organizations, industries and the broader Indiana tech ecosystem.

Xterns represent colleges and universities across Indiana and the country, with more than a third of the class coming from outside Indiana. That mix reflects the program’s dual role in Indiana’s talent strategy: retaining top students already here while attracting emerging talent from across the country to experience the career opportunities available in the state.
The summer experience extends beyond the workplace through three Friday-Saturday programming weekends focused on professional development, civic engagement, social connection and career exploration. The 2026 calendar includes Orientation Weekend on June 5-6, a second programming weekend on June 26-27 and a final weekend on July 24-25.
The first weekend begins June 5 at the Dallara Experience Hub in Speedway, where Xterns will take part in welcome programming, peer-circle activities, industry discussions, workplace-readiness exercises and networking. The day will include remarks from TechPoint President and CEO Eric Christopher, an overview of Indiana’s industry landscape from Sally Reasoner, vice president of talent strategy at TechPoint, and additional sessions with Indiana industry and community leaders including Andie Hines-Lagemann, Mike Cronin, Mitch Isaacs, Kristi Steppe, Scott Sobczak and Troy Kelley. Xterns will also have access to Dallara factory tours and the Racing SIM Garage.
On June 6, Xterns will participate in Discover Indy Day, choosing from three tracks that combine community service with local experiences: volunteering at Gleaners followed by a visit to Newfields; a Cultural Trail bike tour followed by volunteering at Garfield Park; or volunteering at Fletcher Place Community Garden followed by pickleball.
Additional Xtern Weekend programming will continue June 26-27. The final weekend on July 24-25 will include Xtern awards and coincide with TechPoint’s Community Connect event, Building the Workforce AI Can’t Replace, which will bring together Indiana employers, educators and emerging talent for practical conversations about workforce strategy, AI adoption and connecting students to real business needs.
“Xtern helps students see Indiana as more than the place where they spend a summer,” said Taylor Dooley, director of talent programs at TechPoint. “They gain meaningful experience with employers, build relationships with peers and professionals, and get a clearer picture of what it could look like to start and grow their careers here. For employers, it is a direct way to connect with the next generation of talent and show them why Indiana is a place worth choosing.”
The 2026 Xtern class will continue working with host employers throughout the summer, with TechPoint programming designed to help students build community, strengthen professional skills and see a future for themselves in Indiana.
