Event Description
In this class, students will learn how to make simple components using basic metal fabrication techniques and MIG welding. This includes simple cutting of square tube stock with a cold saw / chop saw / angle grinder, how to cut sheet steel with a jump shear, and how to make simple tack welds and beads with a Lincoln Electric Easy MIG 180 welder. Tips for fixture materials, clean-up welds, and painting/finishing will be discussed. Members will practice welding by creating a 4″ x 4″ x 8″ lantern.
