What is the Indiana CIO Network?

Evolving to Meet the Needs of CIOs in Indiana

The Indiana CIO Network is a TechPoint initiative focused on convening the senior most technology leaders at Indiana organizations. Drawing operational IT leaders from around the state and across all sectors, the CIO Network is a community of Chief Information Officers (CIOs) who come together to share knowledge, discuss challenges, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities related to their roles. Meetings and events are no-sales zones.

Originally dubbed the Indy CIO Network, TechPoint began supporting and hosting this forum in late 2022 with a statewide focus as the Indiana CIO Network. Heather Darring, CIO at Kappa Alpha Theta, now serves as President of the organization, and Todd Bandauski, CTO at Weaver Popcorn, serves as Vice President.

The Indiana CIO Network also launched an Advisory Council in October 2024 comprised of a diverse group of tech executives helping to guide the structure and voice of the community to build the network.

Members of the Indiana CIO Network attend monthly events and may also subscribe to a monthly newsletter with details about upcoming events and curated content for the discerning senior tech leader. Additionally, the group’s leadership is available to help moderate an occasional shared distribution channel for news about tech leader job openings and placements, as well as requests for assistance and workplace solution crowdsourcing.

What to Expect at Network Events

Discussion Breakfasts

Just like the very first gathering of five individuals, these breakfasts feature informal dialogue around a central topic. No PowerPoint— just discussion.

In fact, there is very little structure with the intention of keeping the gatherings informal, approachable, and intent on meeting attendees where they are in terms of work needs.

These bi-monthly gatherings average 20 – 30 people in attendance.

Sponsored Dinners

We also average about six vendor sponsored dinner events throughout the year. These networking opportunities include cocktails, dinner, and a non-salesy presentation focused on educating the CIO and senior IT leader on a topic in which the vendor has expertise.

These events are free thanks to the generous sponsorship of our partners. For more information about sponsorship, please visit our prospectus.

Who is Eligible to Join the Network?

In order to ensure this forum remains a trusted, high-value connection point for accessing a peer network of CIOs, TechPoint invites individuals who meet one of the following criteria to apply for inclusion in the Indiana CIO Network:

  • Current CIOs (Chief Information Officer), CTOs (Chief Technology Officer), CDOs (Chief Digital Officer or Chief Data Officer), CISOs (Chief Information Security Officer)

  • Current senior IT leader (the most senior IT person at your organization)
  • Those in transition from the above roles

The Indiana CIO Network is a community of technology leaders whose focus is predominately on their organization’s internal technology from companies and government across Indiana, including tech-enabled, tech-product, and tech-service organizations. Our meetings and events are “no-sales zones.”
