The Maxwell Scholarship for Women in Computing & Engineering was established by Kate Maxwell in 2014, initially in support of young women graduating from her high school alma mater in Pennsylvania. Now in its tenth year, the Maxwell Scholarship has recently moved to the state of Indiana, with its 2024 award announcement coinciding with the launch of Indiana Women IN Tech Week, September 15-22!

This scholarship is awarded in support of women pursuing higher education in a computing or engineering program. The scholarship is open to Indiana residents who identify as female. Applicants must be accepted into or actively enrolled in any post-secondary program related to computing or engineering. Fields of study include: computer science, cybersecurity, data science, information technology, an engineering degree program, or related computing & engineering fields. Congratulations to the 2024 Maxwell Scholarship recipients:

Suhani Lodha – Biomedical Engineering, Purdue University
Suhani impressed the judges with her academic performance and her innovative spirit. Through her Biomedical Engineering studies, Suhani identified an opportunity to apply data analysis, engineering, and medical advancements to help individuals suffering from opioid addiction. Her scholarship essay articulated systemic challenges that opioid patients face, and offered innovative, pragmatic approaches to overcome those challenges and offer support, treatment, and relief to millions around the world.

Haylie Rayl – Computer Engineering, Purdue University Indianapolis
Haylie impressed the judges with her passion for engineering and the way she has applied her passion and expertise to the life sciences. Haylie is actively engaged in a research effort to study the effects of electromagnetic fields on proteins that contribute to Alzheimer's Disease. By leveraging her skills and education in computer engineering, programming, and AI, Haylie aims to develop innovative solutions that can more effectively detect and treat Alzheimer’s Disease.

These inspiring women have demonstrated exceptional talent, dedication, leadership, and passion in their selected fields. We are proud to support their educational journeys here in Indiana, and we look forward to seeing their contributions and impact through computing and engineering.
