David Beasley Announced as Keynote Speaker for gener8tor Agriculture Conference in Indianapolis
Indianapolis – Gener8tor is thrilled to announce that David Beasley, former Governor of South Carolina and recent Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), will be the keynote speaker at the Gener8tor Agriculture Conference in Indianapolis. The event will take place on August 14, 2024, bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders to discuss the future of agriculture and food security.
Governor David Beasley has an illustrious career marked by significant contributions to humanitarian efforts and public service. Nominated by two different U.S. presidential administrations and appointed by the UN Secretary-General in 2017, Beasley led the WFP until April 2023. Under his leadership, the WFP became the largest humanitarian organization globally, assisting over 160 million people in 2022 and raising more than $55 billion USD. In 2020, Beasley accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the WFP for its vital work in providing food assistance in conflict zones and preventing the use of food as a weapon of war.
Beasley’s impactful leadership and commitment to global food security have earned him numerous accolades, including the John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Award. His academic background includes a major in Microbiology from Clemson University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of South Carolina. He has also been a Fellow and lecturer at the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.
