INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Indy Women in Tech (IWiT) is excited to announce the return of its IWiT Summit in partnership with the inaugural Rally, the state’s largest global cross-sector innovation conference.

Rally will take place Aug. 29-31 at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis. The IWiT Summit presented by Group 1001, a half-day program with conversations focused on the pulse of the current tech ecosystem headlined by prominent female leaders, is scheduled for Wednesday, August 30.

The IWiT Summit has been working since 2017 to bring more women into the Hoosier tech community. Currently, only 28 percent of the tech workforce is female, despite the fact that young girls excel in school coursework tied to careers in science, technology, engineering and math. The organization’s programs have encouraged thousands of young girls to pursue tech careers using robotics and other tech-focused events and has helped train hundreds of Hoosier women in skills needed for tech careers.

IWiT Director and Chair Karen Maginn said bringing the Summit to Rally ensures women will be able to take advantage of opportunities to network, pitch entrepreneurial ideas and build community.

“Rally is an event where we expect to see high energy, cross-sector networking and huge opportunity for women of any age and career level,” Maginn said. “The mix of innovators is going to be incredible, and women need to be there.”

Headlining the 2023 IWiT Summit are globally recognized tech leaders Erica Dhawan and Kate Maxwell.

• Dhawan is a leadership expert, bestselling author, and advisor on 21st-century teamwork, collaboration, and innovation. She has been called the “Oprah of Management Thinkers” by Thinkers50 and was awarded a coveted spot on their list of the world’s top 50 management and business thought leaders in 2021. She shares innovative strategies to unlock the collective power of teams, build a culture of trust across any distance and create authentic engagement to ensure competitiveness.
• Maxwell is the Chief Technology Officer for Worldwide Defense and Intelligence at Microsoft, where she delivers on Microsoft’s mission to empower every person and organization to achieve more. She was named #1 of the “Top 100 Women in Tech” by Technology Magazine in 2023 and has been one of the “100 Women in Tech Leaders to Watch” by Women Tech for the past two years.

The IWiT Summit invites professionals from all fields, students, entrepreneurs and anyone interested in the tech industry to attend the Summit.

“It’s a terrific opportunity to amplify your voice if you’re already working in tech and to see the benefits of a tech career if you’re just starting out,” Maginn said. “There’s truly something for everyone.”
