Parkview Health is northeast Indiana’s largest not-for-profit healthcare provider, guided by a mission to improve the health of the communities they serve.

“16 Tech is the ideal community for entrepreneurs, startups, academics and corporations to come together to solve problems,” said Dr. Michael Mirro, chief academic research officer, Parkview Health. “We couldn’t be more excited to expand our work there alongside other big thinkers and innovators in the healthcare space.”

The Parkview Mirro Center for Research and Innovation enables and empowers innovators across the healthcare spectrum, accelerating the delivery of essential solutions. Parkview’s innovation team provides emerging companies with the optimal environment for development by introducing them to vital industry connections, entrepreneurial programs and state-of-the-art facilities for research and product testing.

“The Parkview Mirro Center for Research and Innovation is a recognized leader in advancing patient care through research and technology, and we are proud to welcome its innovation office to 16 Tech,” said Emily Krueger, president and CEO of 16 Tech. “Their presence strengthens our growing cluster in human health and performance, where startups, researchers and industry leaders come together to accelerate new solutions that improve patient lives. This type of collaboration is exactly why 16 Tech exists – to create the connections and resources that help transform ideas into impact.”

Parkview hosts an annual innovation competition to draw innovative products and services from startup companies. The recent “Healthy Care, Healthy Costs Innovation Challenge” brought Parkview together with Butler University and Hylant to find solutions to reduce preventable healthcare costs and improve outcomes for high-risk populations. Bedside Bike, an early-stage mobility company, was named the winner of the 2025 challenge, receiving a $10,000 cash prize and entry into an accelerator program.

On the international scale, Parkview partnered with the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to form the MedTech Global Gateway. The goal of the collaboration is to assist international MedTech innovators in entering and scaling within the U.S. healthcare market.

“We’re used to collaborating with other organizations to drive meaningful innovation,” Mirro added. “We’re honored to now become a part of the 16 Tech entrepreneurial ecosystem.”

The Innovation will hold drop-in hours from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Small businesses and entrepreneurs looking to partner with Parkview can email the innovation team at innovation@parkview.com.

A ribbon-cutting and open house will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, with appetizers and tours to commemorate Parkview’s entry into the district.
