Purdue Extension 4-H Seeks Mentors for National Presidential AI Challenge
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — September 26, 2025 — Purdue Extension 4-H is recruiting volunteer mentors for the Presidential AI Challenge, a national initiative that empowers K–12 youth to explore artificial intelligence (AI) and apply it to real-world problems.
Mentors will guide small teams of 1–4 students as they design creative, responsible AI solutions. No prior teaching experience is required. Volunteers should bring professional expertise, curiosity, and a willingness to support the next generation of innovators.
The Presidential AI Challenge helps students build critical skills in STEM, digital literacy, and problem-solving while creating opportunities for community engagement. Mentorship is designed to be flexible and can fit around volunteers’ schedules; participating mentors will receive guidance and resources to support their work with students.
A framework aligned with Indiana State Standards is available to streamline implementation in classrooms or extracurricular settings. Informational Zoom sessions for prospective mentors will be offered during the first two weeks of October, with recordings available for those unable to attend live.
