About The Team And Position
Carvana’s Marketplace team is at the heart of our mission to change the way people buy cars. We are responsible for business-to-business systems and software that empower ADESA auto auctions to produce, list, and sell effectively.
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to join us in creating innovative solutions for our customers and internal users. This role involves managing the customer experience on our new digital auction website, along with creating secure and robust systems for our 1200+ internal auction employees. This is accomplished through building highly available, distributed, and reliable services.
As a member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our marketplace applications and contribute directly to our company’s success. Our team consists of highly competent, driven engineers located across the East Coast and Central regions. We pride ourselves on our collaborative culture that values diversity of thought and encourages continual professional growth.
What You’ll Be Doing
Managing your team in developing and operating our customer experience platform while diving deep with internal partners to launch new products
Hire and develop your engineers, helping them learn and achieve their own goals while holding them – and yourself – to high engineering standards
Develop efficient processes, ensuring the engineering team is operating with high velocity, quality, and ownership
Focus your team on increasing resiliency and uptime while decreasing the blast radius of software changes and tracking and improving customer-facing metrics
Work with our product, design, business, and operations teams to develop resilient solutions while driving impact for our car purchasing experience

Carvana differentiates itself through its end-to-end infrastructure, including proprietary inspection and reconditioning centers, a national logistics network, iconic car vending machines, and in-house financing, all designed to provide a seamless customer experience with features like 7-day returns and same-day delivery in select markets. Operating across 316+ markets covering over 80% of the U.S. population, Carvana has established itself as the second-largest used car dealer in the United States.
