Job Description

Starting Salary Range: $157,000 – $167,000  – position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.

As MISO’s Senior Platform Engineer on the Emerging Technology team you will work with teams across the organization to design and support cloud-based prototypes that help drive innovation. This role will focus on setting up and managing cloud infrastructure to support new technology ideas and pilot projects. You will also play an important role in guiding the organization on how to approach and implement new technologies.

What You’ll Do as our Senior Platform Engineer – Emerging Technology:

  • Design, build, and deploy cloud-based solutions to support emerging technology initiatives and prototypes projects.
  • Automate infrastructure and deployment processes using tools like Terraform and CI/CD pipelines to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Monitor systems, diagnose infrastructure issues, and provide support for performance issues.
  • Research and incorporate advanced technologies (e.g., AI, IoT, blockchain, quantum computing) into cloud environments, and assess the scalability of prototypes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and leadership, while creating thorough documentation and training materials for cloud systems and processes.

What You’ll Bring as our Senior Platform Engineer – Emerging Technology:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related engineering field, or at least eight (8) years relevant work experience (required)
  • Masters’ degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related engineering field (preferred)
  • At least five (5) years of experience with cloud systems (required)
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure architecture (required)
  • Specific experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure (required) and/or AWS
  • Skilled in scripting, automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Azure CLI, PowerShell, and Terraform
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and query languages such as SQL and KQL
  • Familiar with containerization technologies and programming languages like Python or Java
  • Familiarity with GitHub preferred

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
