Event Description
The IU School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI seeks to get our community members to challenge their established notions about what a professional is, what they look like, sound like, and do. We invite our industry partners who have a stated commitment to diversifying their workforce to this talk in the hopes of both connecting with their stated goals and getting them to question their own assumptions about what is a professional.
Our STEM students at IUPUI represent a wide range of backgrounds and as a result have unique strengths to offer here in their classes and to future employers. When individuals are acknowledged and valued for their authentic selves, more inclusive environments and greater innovation results.
Al Carroll, President and CEO of IndyHub, will give the talk, “Thriving in spaces that weren't built for you: How authenticity can bridge the networking gap” on September 15, in Innovation Hall Room 102 at IUPUI. A reception will follow the talk with the opportunity for networking.
