This mechanical engineer rose through the ranks at Rolls-Royce, then decided to start a company that revolutionized electric grids and how they work. She raised money, grew the company, and then sold it. Lisa will share her story and teach you how to go from idea, to market, to growth, then exit. She'll also share what it's like to work for the company that purchases you. It's a unique experience to go from employer back to employee. BIO OF LISA LAUGHNER
Lisa Laughner is an accomplished leader with 20+ years international experience innovating new products and businesses in both the private and not-for-profit sectors. She has an exceptional ability to visualize new applications for existing products/services and commercializing technology, and she is has an award-winning leadership track record in strategic planning, building high-performing cross-functional and international teams, fostering collaborations, delivering on complex programs and launching new businesses.
Lisa is the former President and CEO of Go Electric Inc, an early stage renewable energy company developing power management solutions for microgrids and uninterruptible power systems, she also consults on the Indiana Supplier Insight project, a key Conexus Indiana program to help grow Indiana’s advanced manufacturing and logistics industries.
She was Vice President, Corporate Ventures at Rolls Royce, and a founding member of the ventures team in Derby, England. Lisa and her colleagues developed a world class technology commercialization and venture spin-out process and vetted 8000 patents, incubated 28 spin-out projects and launched companies in Biometrics, RFID Logistics, Project Management Software, Patient Health Monitoring and Video Game industries. Lisa also created and launched the Conexus Indiana organization while on executive loan from Rolls Royce.
Lisa has frequently spoken at conferences and universities about technology commercialization and new venture creation. In her career, she has held program management, finance and engineering positions in new product development/launch programs.
