Xtern is a summer internship experience you can join in two ways: by applying to an Xtern position with an Indiana company, or by being enrolled by your employer after accepting a summer internship offer.
New for 2026—there is no central application for the Xtern program. You can join the program by applying for an Xtern labeled position posted directly on a company’s job board, or be enrolled after securing an internship from an employer. Xtern positions will be posted by each participating company on a rolling basis throughout the fall and spring semesters.

In order to be eligible for Xtern, you must be currently enrolled at a college or university and have secured an Xtern position with your employer.
Xtern positions will be added to our Job Board when available, though this listing won’t be exhaustive. Click the button below to view the Job Board, then sort for Job Type by selecting Xtern.
By applying to an Xtern position, you’ll have the opportunity to join a high-growth tech company for a 10-week, 9-to-5 paid internship over the summer.
Xtern also gives you the chance to live for free in Indiana and discover everything the state has to offer as a place to live, work, and play. Live with other Xterns, build lifelong friendships, and explore the city together.
Xterns have an opportunity to exercise the skills you have learned, gain work experience and connect with industry leaders.

Through the Xtern program you will learn about organizations leading the efforts to inspire and educate the next generation of tech leaders in our K-12 schools and those that are creatively building a more vibrant community in Indy for everyone!
Better yet, you will have the opportunity to get actively involved in this work through hands-on, civic engagement events.
Unlike in previous years, there will be no central application for the Xtern Class of 2026. The TechPoint team will be recruiting at specific universities and college programs depending on employer demand. There will be no public application available. Requests to apply and resumes submitted via email will not be considered.
You may see Xtern labeled internship applications posted on company job boards. If you apply and are accepted to an Xtern position, you’ll be invited to confirm participation in the Xtern summer program.
You may also apply to an internship position and later be enrolled in Xtern by your employer. Once enrolled, the TechPoint team will reach out to confirm your summer participation.
