TechPoint launches CDO Network to advance data strategy and innovation across Indiana
INDIANAPOLIS (July 23, 2025) — TechPoint, the industry-led growth initiative for Indiana’s digital innovation economy and overall tech ecosystem, today announced the formation of the Indiana CDO Network, bringing together the state’s best minds in data and analytics.

The network, which will hold its inaugural meeting in August, formalizes a previously organic consortium of central Indiana data leaders. Under the TechPoint brand, the CDO network will expand statewide, offering members a sustainable infrastructure that employs deeper collaborations and professional growth with vital connections to the state’s innovation sector.
The CDO Network will be led by: Bill Kemerer, vice president of global data and analytics, Allegion; and Karen Hyman, vice president of data governance, defense digital and IT, Rolls Royce.
“The timing is perfect for a formalized CDO network, as data is top of mind across all industries with the rapid adoption of AI,” said Bill Kemerer. “Protecting your data and ensuring that data is high quality is critical as we move forward in this new information age. I’m thrilled that TechPoint is a trusted partner for Indiana-based CDOs as we move forward together with this effort.”
CDOs are a force within their companies to ensure data is clean and governed. They establish high-quality data pipelines, enforce governance standards, and minimize biases or unreliable model outputs. As a result, they improve data literacy while driving revenue growth, efficiency gains and new product opportunities.

Importantly, CDOs play an important role in balancing innovation with risk and security. The average global cost of a data breach in 2024 was $4.88 million.
“AI is one of the top opportunities and concerns in our field right now, and this network will give CDOs a unique way to learn from each other as we form and implement plans for proper data governance and compliance,” said Karen Hyman. “The question we always ask, is ‘is your data ready for AI?’ It’s an amazing and exciting time to be on the forefront of change with our peers.”
