Springbuk and HealthJoy are improving health and lowering costs with artificial intelligence
Two-year-old scale-up Springbuk has quickly grown its client base and employee count, and secured $3.75 million in capital investment to continue fueling that growth. The company continues to expand its health analytics software solution, which helps more than 8,000 employers identify ways to improve employee health and drive down healthcare costs.
To help organizations take more control over their healthcare costs, Springbuk has partnered with HealthJoy to guide employers and employees toward more informed healthcare decisions.
HealthJoy’s platform promotes cost-saving healthcare strategies through an app with a simple chat interface and an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant named JOY. When searching for healthcare services, members are redirected to lower cost care options.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Springbuk and combine their industry-leading health analytics data with our employee engagement platform to directly target unnecessary claims and help companies take control over rising healthcare costs,” said Doug Morse-Schindler, president and co-founder of HealthJoy. “We are now able to identify at-risk employees and initiate a conversation to make sure they are making informed health decisions based on their plan design, network and formulary.”
From our Springbuk profile: Springbuk was built upon years of insights from 6,000 “Healthiest Employer®” awards program participants nationwide, including 72 of the Fortune 100 companies. The Healthiest Employer® awards were created by Springbuk’s founders in 2009 and remain a wholly owned subsidiary. In total, the data collected represents more than 60 million employees or about one-third of the U.S. working population. The software also receives data feeds with nearly 250 major sources, including UnitedHealthCare, Anthem, Aetna, and ADP.
“By leveraging our health analytics data within their engagement platform, HealthJoy is giving their self-insured clients greater control over rising healthcare costs,” said Rod Reasen, co-founder and CEO of Springbuk. “Our data sets and insights can enable HealthJoy to identify high cost claims before they happen and automate targeted outreach to provide employees with better care.”
Companies on self-insured health plans that use both Springbuk and HealthJoy will automatically benefit from the integration. Their employees will receive an increase in targeted messaging based on indications of disease to avoid unnecessary costs. They will also receive help from disease and case managers to resolve gaps of care to avoid increased long-term healthcare costs.
