With Indiana’s tech industry growing rapidly and TechPoint continuously increasing its impact on talent, scaleups and community — we naturally need more hands on deck. Every part of our organization is growing in innovative and exciting ways.

The Xtern program has already doubled in its second year, and we expect it to continue to grow and win over the country’s best tech talent. The Tailwind program is helping 144 Indiana tech companies scale up by connecting them to much needed mentors, capital and customers. And our content platforms have grown the audience more than 800 percent in two years, and we’re about to embark on exciting new content efforts that we hope will continue to draw in tens of thousands of new readers, fans and followers.

It was time for us to put our focus into finding some fresh new talent for ourselves. This new talent has come in the form of three summer interns: Theresa Carper from DePauw, Hannah Midkiff from Indiana University, and me, Jenna Phillips from Texas Christian University.

Theresa_CarperSQUARETheresa Carper is working with Sally Reasoner on capturing the stories from our Xtern program. Theresa calls Indianapolis, Ind., home and she just finished her junior year at DePauw University as an English writing major. She also has a double minor in Chinese and two-dimensional studio art. Theresa brings a lot of experience to the table including previously doing graphic design for International Community Radio Taipei and being a marketing intern for Methodist Health Foundation.

With TechPoint, Theresa is doing all things video, including weekly shorts. She plans to post a video to the TechPoint Xtern blog each week. If you’re wondering why you haven’t seen this blog before, Theresa is developing it herself. Sally says this kind of dynamic video content is crucial to amplifying the voices of the Xtern program and moving it forward.

Hannah_MidkiffSQUAREHannah Midkiff is working with TechPoint and with our digital director, Jayson Manship, at inSourceCode. Hannah will be a sophomore in the fall at Indiana University Kelley School of Business. She is spending the summer working mostly on implementing TechPoint’s new customer relationship management (CRM) system that will help drive multiple areas of focus, but especially scaleups.

Hannah was the president of Riley Dance Marathon at Brownsburg High School where she increased their fundraising efforts by 300% to $24,000 in just one year.

Jenna_PhillipsSQUARELastly, my name is Jenna Phillips and I’m going to be a senior at Texas Christian University, but I call Indianapolis home. At TCU I helped found Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and eventually became chapter president. Last summer I interned at our sorority headquarters in Brentwood, Tenn. I also previously worked as the marketing and events intern supervisor for Indiana’s own Just Pop In!

I’m splitting my time this summer between TechPoint and BioCrossroads, both of which are Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) initiatives. At TechPoint I work as a writer for techpoint.org with editor Joshua Hall focusing mostly on profiles and social media.

It’s an exciting time for the tech industry in Indiana and we’re all happy just to be a part of it as TechPoint gets this triple dose of young talent!
