21 Indiana tech companies make Inc. 5000 ‘Fastest Growing’ list
Every year, Inc. magazine ranks “America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies” and this year 21 tech companies based in Indiana made the Inc. 5000 list. Thirteen of the 21 companies are past TechPoint Mira Award nominees and winners, including three top honorees from 2017:
- Tech Service of the Year: Fizziology
- Scale-up Company of the Year ($100K-$5M): DoubleMap
- Scale-up Company of the Year ($5M-$20M): ClearObject
DoubleMap, a four-time TechPoint Mira Award winner, broke into the Inc. 500 last year at 93rd overall and remained among the top 10 fastest growing tech companies in Indiana this year.
“DoubleMap is proud that our growth has resulted in back-to-back Inc 5000 appearances,” said Ilya Rekhter, co-founder and CEO. “It serves as validation that a continued focus on company culture can lead to better products, happier clients, and sustained revenue growth.”
Now in its 36th year, the annual Inc. 500|5000 list looks at one of the most important new job creating segments of the economy — America’s independent entrepreneurs. TechPoint focuses on this segment as well through the Tailwind Program, which helps entrepreneurs access critical resources to accelerate their scale-up companies and become tomorrow’s successes.

Quotes from Indiana leaders about making the Inc. 5000
“It is an incredible achievement to be listed among the nation’s fastest-growing companies for the fourth time in a row, an accolade that is as much our clients’ and partners’ as it is our own,” said Tiffany Sauder, president of Element Three. “The Inc. 5000 demonstrates just how difficult it is to remain ahead of the technology and industry expectations set by an ever-changing marketplace. While many companies make the list, so many more do not. So while we are humbled and excited to be growing alongside our clients, it is our team’s commitment to reaching forward into the future without resting on past achievements that keeps us great.”
“I’m thrilled that SupplyKick is honored as part of Inc. Magazine’s fastest growing companies in America” SupplyKick CEO Josh Owens said. “We are excited by the continued growth we see for the company and the impact we can have on both the retail industry and the Indianapolis community. As Amazon’s marketplace continues to evolve, more and more brands are searching for ways to optimize their presence and create a strategy for success.”
“We’re honored to once again be recognized by Inc. for the tremendous growth our team has achieved,” said Michael Osborne, CEO and president of SmarterHQ. “Through our own development, we’ve engaged new industries beyond retail, such as financial services and travel and hospitality, helping executives at top brands leverage the right customer data to create real-time insights into consumer behavior across all platforms in order to personalize communications – effectively driving sales, increasing revenue, and bolstering brand loyalty.”
“Year one on the list was hard. Now in our 4th year in a row, it’s a testament to the dedication and talent of our team, especially as they accomplished this while evolving from project revenue to 85 percent recurring revenue, said JJ Thompson, founder and CEO of Rook Security. “Through rapid innovation in a market that moves at the speed of data, we constantly strive to stay at the forefront of cyber security.”
“We’re energized and honored to once again be included on the Inc. 5000 list among other fast-growing private companies in the nation. Our continued growth and success is the result of a developed company culture that breeds hard work and innovation,” said Chris Byers, CEO of Formstack. “We’re continuing to enhance our platform in order to create effective solutions for our customers.”
“ClearObject’s success and the accolades we receive are rooted in the hard work and dedication of our employees, but it wouldn’t be possible without the enthusiastic support of our partners and, most importantly, our clients,” said John Annakin, Chief Revenue Officer of ClearObject. “Every single person who works at ClearObject is 100 percent committed to delivering an unbelievable level of innovation and service excellence to our clients as we continue to deploy and manage their Internet of Things solutions.”
“RICS is proud to make the Inc 5000 list for the 6th consecutive year. According to Inc. Magazine, only 4% of applicants have ever made the list 6 times! RICS owes this extraordinary and sustained achievement to our people (present and past), clients, and partners,” Jason Becker, CEO, RICS Software said.
This year’s highest climbers on the list
- Formstack climbed 300 spots from 1974 to 1674
- Lewellyn Technology climbed 98 spots from 4410 to 4312
The 2017 Inc. 5000 is the most competitive crop in the list’s history. The average company on the list achieved a mind-boggling three-year average growth of 481%. The Inc. 5000’s aggregate revenue is $206 billion, and the companies on the list collectively generated 619,500 jobs over the past three years.
