Malomo won the award for Startup of the Year during TechPoint’s 22nd annual Mira Awards gala honoring the best of tech in Indiana.

In less than two years, Malomo has raised $8.2 million in venture capital by proving that its innovative shipment tracking platform has the ability to help small, independent retailers pivot to survive and thrive, even during one of the most unprecedented events in human history. In 2020, Malomo helped ecommerce merchants and their customers track more than seven million orders around the world, alerting them of delivery issues as they happen.

The Mira Awards judges believe Malomo has transformed shipping from a cost center into a profitable marketing channel, all while doubling the startup’s headcount and growing 500% last year. The company drove millions of dollars in repeat revenue for retailers by helping them promote their brands and their products as customers checked on their current orders. Malomo has seized on one of the most interesting “aha moment” ideas of the ecommerce era, that not only protects retailers from suffering the consequences of shipping problems, but turns it into a competitive advantage.

TechPoint, the nonprofit, industry-led growth accelerator for Indiana’s tech ecosystem, honored the successes and innovation of Indiana people, places, companies and products during the 22nd annual and second virtual Mira Awards gala with presenting sponsor Salesforce.

A total of 16 award winners and honorees were chosen from the 122 outstanding people, places companies and products that were selected as nominees for their achievements during the 2020 calendar year. Fifty-two independent, volunteer judges spent more than 850 total hours evaluating applications, interviewing nominees, and selecting this year’s winners. Judges included an impressive roster of company founders, CEOs and presidents, CTOs, CIOs, engineers and other industry professionals.

The Mira Awards are named after the first of the brilliant variable stars to be discovered – the Mira Star. It is also the Latin root meaning “worthy of admiration, wonderful, marvelous.” The awards represent the best of tech in Indiana each year.
