OneCause won the award for Pandemic Pivot of the Year for small- to mid-sized businesses during TechPoint’s 22nd annual Mira Awards gala honoring the best of tech in Indiana.

On March 13th, 2020, OneCause went from supporting 200 plus in-person events a week, with 2,100 total on the books for spring … to zero. The popular nonprofit fundraising platform and solutions provider had grown used to spring being peak fundraising season and they were expecting another record-breaking year, in fact, they were expecting their best year since the company was founded in 2008 when they won the Startup of the Year Mira Award.

What happened next with the global pandemic and shutdowns was an existential threat to the company and the entire fundraising event industry. OneCause, however, made smart, creative moves that not only earned them 1,400 new customers, many of which used the company’s newly created Virtual Events Center, but they helped those nonprofits raise half a billion dollars last year. OneCause has essentially created the gold standard model for the virtual and hybrid fundraising events industry, and they are expecting 2021 to be yet another record-breaking year for the company.

TechPoint, the nonprofit, industry-led growth accelerator for Indiana’s tech ecosystem, honored the successes and innovation of Indiana people, places, companies and products during the 22nd annual and second virtual Mira Awards gala with presenting sponsor Salesforce.

A total of 16 award winners and honorees were chosen from the 122 outstanding people, places companies and products that were selected as nominees for their achievements during the 2020 calendar year. Fifty-two independent, volunteer judges spent more than 850 total hours evaluating applications, interviewing nominees, and selecting this year’s winners. Judges included an impressive roster of company founders, CEOs and presidents, CTOs, CIOs, engineers and other industry professionals.

The Mira Awards are named after the first of the brilliant variable stars to be discovered – the Mira Star. It is also the Latin root meaning “worthy of admiration, wonderful, marvelous.” The awards represent the best of tech in Indiana each year.
