Reflections on the Connections Conference in Indy
As we all know, on the final day of the Connections conference, the Salesforce leadership team announced that the conference will be in New York City in 2015. Before learning about the decision to move, TechPoint, the Indy Chamber, Visit Indy, and Downtown Indy banded together to showcase our city and tech community to the thousands of marketing leaders here for Connections. The good folks at Media Fuel captured it in this awesome video.
They also took some great photos to document the event. Flip through them here.
I almost didn’t complete this post because it felt like water under the bridge–the news has long past. However, the video deserves to be shared, and I think the message still deserves to be shared that while moving the event to a bigger market might seem like the right thing to do on paper, the lifeblood of Connections has always been the people, people right here in this community.
You built it, and while we wish it were here in 2015 (maybe we’ll get it back later), the decision made for 2015 doesn’t diminish the fact that this significant event has been built and grown right here in Indy, the city USA Today named “Best Convention City in the Country” this year. Congratulations to the ExactTarget team and supporting community cast who turned a small user conference into one of the premier marketing events in the world.
