More than 1,000 people work at Salesforce in Indianapolis, making them one of the largest tech employers in the city. So at first blush it might not seem like such a big deal that 20 new jobs have been created here.
However, these new jobs are IT jobs instead of marketing cloud jobs like most of those that were part of the ExactTarget acquisition. The majority of Salesforce’s IT jobs are located in San Francisco, so this marks what amounts to a significant new investment in the Indianapolis market.
”Indy has been a great location for Salesforce IT talent, both the individuals that came to us via the ExactTarget integration as well as those individuals who have been hired since. The next round of resources we are hiring will help Salesforce build and maintain our world class enterprise applications built upon the Salesforce platform,” said Ross Meyercord, Chief Information Officer, Salesforce.

Salesforce definitely has a focus on being a great place to work. In fact, they have an entire website built around the concept of the company being a team sport and they even have a Twitter channel dedicated to highlighting the Salesforce experience under the #dreamjob hashtag. Both resources offer a fun view inside the company and a look at how employees get involved in their communities and enjoy their workplace.
Benefits, Culture & Diversity
Competition for top-tier tech talent is high in Central Indiana. TechPoint’s recent workforce study confirmed 85 percent of tech and tech-enabled employers perceive the environment to be highly competitive. You can see the impact of this competition in the perks and benefits that most tech firms provide their employees.
Salesforce offers comprehensive benefits and a whole host of employee perks, but it’s their commitment to fun and giving back to the community that stands out among their culture of success.
“Giving back to the communities in which we operate is at the core of everything we do. The Salesforce Foundation is based on a simple idea: Leverage Salesforce’s people, technology, and resources to help improve communities around the world. We call this integrated philanthropic approach the 1-1-1 model.”
Diversity is another thing Salesforce takes as seriously as they take creating a fun work environment and giving back. They recognize that a diverse, inclusive workforce provides unique perspectives and a platform for innovation that makes the entire company stronger.
