Statwax brings transparency to digital advertising
This summer, digital advertising agency Statwax, a startup that grew out of top marketing firm BLASTmedia, was named one of the “Top 10 Fastest Growing Google Solution Providers” in the U.S. by tech-professional media site The Silicon Review. Statwax was the only company based in Indiana to make the list, and one of the youngest companies to be honored.
With accolades like the top 10 and plans to hire up to 20 people by the end of 2018, Statwax has already doubled in size over the last year to 16 employees, and the company itself has achieved year-over-year revenue growth in triple digits (230%).
They work with well-known local brands like Voxx International/Klipsch, Ivy Tech Community College and First Internet Bank, as well as other large global brands you’ve definitely heard of. Statwax is particularly active with e-commerce, business-to business, and higher education customers, with education being one of the most competitive digital advertising landscapes today.
So what exactly is Statwax? It’s a performance-driven, conversion-centric digital advertising agency that handles everything from the creative to the placement and the analytics with a level of transparency that is rare in the world of advertising. Customers have direct access to the people who are creating and placing their ads, and Statwax provides backend access to its platform so that customers may see where every dollar is spent and how each ad is performing (if they want to).
Jeff GasiorPresident
“That’s really the story of how and why we got started, because we knew there had to be a better way to give customers what they expect, as well as to change the conversation around digital advertising by innovating and thinking about things differently.”
Here’s why Silicon Review singled out Statwax for the top 10 out of thousands of Google Solutions Providers. They:
- Increased product sales for a client by more than 900% in the first month of campaigns
- Generated a 735% return on ad spend (ROAS) in seven days
- Boosted enrollment for a college by 32% in the first month of campaigns
The reason Statwax is able to provide these outrageous results for its customers is because the agency understands digital advertising is not just another medium like TV, radio or billboards, but as a unique discipline with nuances that traditional advertising methodologies miss when simply applying the same old approaches.
Statwax doubled in size and grew revenue by triple digits over the last year, with plans to double again in 2018.
“All of our clients have 100 percent access to everything that we do and we are 100 percent transparent with every single one of them,” Gasior said. “We are one of the few firms in the country that does not add any additional dollars to our customers’ ad spend.
“If you buy a thousand impressions for $5.10 with another agency, they will show the total buy as $7.10 because they are charging a $2 markup in addition to retainer fees, but the client thinks they are buying $7.10 worth of advertising, not realizing that the agency is taking an additional $7,000-$10,000 per month.”
Statwax doesn’t do markups like that. Instead, they negotiate a retainer and then charge clients an agreed upon percentage of the advertising spend. And there are no surprises with billing because Statwax does everything in-house and everything is covered by the retainer and percentage fees, including creative services, ad placement, analytics, and analysis.
In addition to digital advertising specialists, creative designers and data scientists, Statwax has a personal trainer and nutritionist on staff to help employees reach their health goals, as well as their professional ones.
That’s not to say that Statwax can’t play nice with other agencies. As a disruptor, they certainly are shaking things up, but Statwax does partner with traditional advertising agencies and brings its innovative digital advertising approach to the table as part of the client’s larger media placement and buying strategy.
According to Gasior, Statwax is dedicated to raising the level of education and understanding of digital advertising in the marketplace and they apply their broad, specialized knowledge and partnerships to the Statwax Academy.
“We offer marketers courses that help them take their skills and understanding of digital advertising to the next level,” said Gasior. “As an agency that has brought transparency to digital advertising, we want to raise the bar and push this industry forward by continuing to push and prod and question everything and work with top brands to always find better ways of reaching customers and delivering results.”
