Q2 Recap: Catch up on ‘Featured Company of the Week’ stories
As the second quarter of 2016 comes to an end, we reflect on the Featured Company of the Week stories we’ve published and recap what’s happening in the tech community. These startups and scale-ups are rapidly emerging, innovation-driven companies that could be Indiana’s next big success stories.
Angie’s List — a TechPoint Pillar Partner and recent presenting sponsor of the 17th annual Mira Awards — is an established 20+ year old tech company that recently did something remarkable. They removed their paywall, simultaneously replaced the company’s entire underlying technology platform, and they did it all in record time!
Of course, with TechPoint’s best-of-tech Mira Awards gala taking place April 30, many of our featured stories this quarter were about this year’s winners and the Winners’ Circle event with investors at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Fast Friday.
Our second quarter featured companies that each represent a unique sector of technology speaking to how wide the Indiana tech community spans. Geofeedia offers location-based intelligence and analysis, Vennli is a choice visualization & analytics platform, MOBI provides software and services to help companies manage mobility, Angie’s List helps consumers connect to the best home service providers, and Scale Computing integrates storage, servers, and virtualization software into an all-in-one appliance based system.
These companies are achieving significant growth in annual recurring revenue and most are raising six to seven figures in funding rounds. They are growing in size too, creating hundreds of tech jobs in Indianapolis. Angie’s List currently employs nearly 2,000 in Indianapolis and is expected to hire at least another 200 people and over half of Chicago-headquartered Geofeedia’s 63 employees are based out of Indianapolis.
Many of the companies we have featured are taking part in TechPoint’s Tailwind program, an ongoing effort to raise the visibility and accelerate the growth of Indiana tech companies.
